Founded in 2016, Calgary Concrete Masters started with a simple mission: to provide the highest standard of structural and decorative concrete installations in Calgary, Alberta. Over the past 15 years, we have grown from a small residential curb crew into a full-scale residential and commercial concrete contractor, completing over 500 projects across Southern Alberta.
Engineered for Calgary's Extreme Climate
In Calgary, concrete faces severe conditions. Rapid freeze-thaw cycles—often accelerated by sudden warm Chinook winds—subject local concrete slabs to immense thermal expansion and contraction. At the same time, Calgary's heavy clay soils swell when saturated and shrink when dry, resulting in ground movement that easily cracks poorly laid concrete.
At Calgary Concrete Masters, we engineer every pour to combat these elements. We strictly compact a minimum 4-6 inches of gravel base (using 3/4" road crush crushed limestone) to ensure solid drainage and sub-base stability. We reinforce all slabs with thick, structurally tied 10mm or 15mm steel rebar grids (never wire mesh) to absorb ground movement. Finally, we utilize high-durability 32 MPa concrete with 5% to 8% air-entrained bubbles, preventing moisture scaling during winter freeze-thaw events.
